Acoustic wall of slats

Whole wall covered with slat panels.

° Location : entrance, hallway of an apartment.

° Wall area : 10 sq.m.

11 pieces of 300 x 2650 mm slat panels. Panels are mounted onto horizontal wooden bars by 25 mm wood screws. The 3 wooden bars are mounted to gyproc wallboard.

By not gluing the panels to the wall, the wall is not damaged if the panels are removed in the future. And, the panels come down in one piece, undamaged, and can be used again.

Had I been given completely free hands, I would have built this panel wall with about 25 mm thick absorbing material – placed behind the panel – and left a 20 mm air space between absorbant and the wall. The slats would have been slightly larger in profile, and mounted piece-by-piece.

Diffusing panel of slats – slatwall

Slatted part of a wall.

° Location : town house.

° Area : 1600 x 1600 x 125 mm.

The slat wall of wooden boards works as a room space divider, as well as an echo mitigator (dampener) – and is visually pleasing, adding calmness.

Compressed styrofoam, held together by a wooden frame.

° Location : living room.

° Wall area : size of panel is 1300 x 1300 x 140 mm.

Making an echo mitigating wallpanel, by incapsulating 4 pieces of white 3D (styrofoam) elements into a wooden frame.

Absorbing panels, with a diffusing surface

The back side contains 30 mm of air space, then 50 mm of absorbant. Front side is covered with half-pipe profile wooden bars, for the diffusing effect.
